I wrote this song in early 2021 following a year of living mostly in isolation in Lakeland, Florida. Months after ending a four-year relationship in the spring of 2020, I encountered rare glimpses of hope, joy and normalcy solely through short-lived but intense romances.

A kaleidoscope of emotions, it's hard to tell where one hurt ended and the other began.

“A Guide to Self-Preservation” chronicles the complexities of romances, necessary endings and a commitment to finding emotional stability through self-protectionism.
